Kairos has quite a lot of things going on in his life, and because of so, he has many dogs he is interacting with in various ways. These roles are less strict castings of dogs than they are flavorful bits that can be added to any dog's history that will tie them in to Kairos' current plots (with the exception of Hatchet). Do enjoy~
The 7 Vassals | The Wolf and the Lamb | The Shepherds |
Before Knights of Heartland had been established, there was a pack that established itself as Flaxrown Kingdom. The pack was established on an ancient of traditions of welcoming weak and weary dogs into its borders for R&R, but when its last Alphess had lost her only heir and beloved child, she struck a deal with the pack of Ash River Project to exchange its members in place for reviving her son. To the public eye, she was sending the sick, injured, and feeble she had taken in to a pack that could adequately accommodate them. 10 dogs in total were traded to Ash River Project before Kairos saw through the ruse, re-established what it meant to be a charitable pack, and stuck a deal with Ash River to retrieve 8 of them. The former vassals of Flaxrown became subjects of Ash River, however they were under strict regulation thanks to the current leader, Alpha Finley. Although experimented on, one of the experiments conducted on the vassals were not inherently fatal and most focused around what ailment got them there in the first place. The things that could have happened can range from blood letting, bone setting, experimental/expired drugs, acupuncture treatment, forced physical condition training, and the likes. | Of the 10 vassal-subjects, one brave and noble dog has been chosen and taken it upon themselves to be the ambassador of the treaty established. This dog has is officially a member of Ash River Project and is subject to all of its rules and customs, however they are also a representative of Knights of Heartland and is encouraged to speak and act on behalf of Heartland during pack activities. Every once in a while, they will be randomly summoned to the Knights of Heartland to report their findings. Although they are the "Lamb" of this title, make no mind that this is a role for the meek and humble. This is a role taken upon a dog that is brave enough to dive into the bowels of the mysterious Ash River Project and understand its ways. A dog that has the fortitude to continue on even when it feels like their pack members are against them. Its also a dog who, like Kairos, believes that Ash River is more than a moral-less pack of sadists. And then on the flip side, there is the Wolf; or more like the wolf in sheep's clothing. Among the 10 vassals, one has set off into the world to forge their own path, one acts as a representative of Heartland within Ash River, and one is doing vise-versa...secretly. Of the vassals that returned, one of them is a spy working for Alpha Finley. Whether it be the miraculous curing of their ailment or in spite of Wren and all the dogs from Flaxrown, one of the vassals decided to become an Ash River dog. But instead of staying in the pack or even becoming the ambassador, their first mission is to infiltrate Knights of Heartland as a simple vassal ready to have a new start in the fresh new pack. | Outside of pack affairs but still so deeply meaningful to Kairos is the organization he works with abbreviated to HERD. HERD, in short terms, is a human-government ran organization that seeks to better the lives of human wastelanders and execute their goal in the form of service dogs called HERDers. Though service dog is an understatement; with at least 1 parent being a HERDer and extensive training from the moment they are weaned to a whopping 3 years of age, they are practically tailor-brand heroes. These dogs work in a team of 3 or 4 that are stationed in the Southlands, Heartlands, or Northland and respond to everything from earthquake and forest fire relief to cats being stuck in trees. Because of their rigorous upbringing, most HERDers have black-and-white morality when forced to consider a situation that hasn't been briefed to them during their years of training. Seeing how stray dogs take the role of an apex predator in ecosystems, are the only animal close to achieving human intelligence and advancement, and far outnumber humans, most HERDers regard non-human bonded dogs with indifference and packs with disdain. Kairos, and perhaps a few of the new-generation (3 and under) HERDers are the exception. |

The 10th Vassal to be returned to Heartland territory in the aftermath of the Ash River project- Flaxrown Kingdom exchange. While he may not be the only canine who harbors foul feelings in their heart from what has happened to them, being deemed useless and condemned to be a tool for experimentation has weighed heavy on his ego. So heavy, in fact, that he left the Heartlands the very night he had been returned. His current objective is to find and destroy Wren. From there, who knows what he could possibly be up to... |
