"Nicolas fell to greed and fear as any dog is capable of doing. It is only right that we honor the good of our leader, as well as take his fall as a warning. Once, Nicolas was a dog I was proud to call my Alpha. He took my family in, and it was his reign in which I learned how to be a dog Winterwood could be proud to have. His corruption and death will forever be remembered by the Winterwood pack, but let us not forget who he once was: a strong leader, a valiant soul, someone once knew compassion and bravery."
At the edge of the forest, where the Silver Lake's river fed into a waterfall at the edge of the sea, the pack had gathered for the Final Farewell ceremony. Although Yulianna had not required anyone to come, she felt it right to encourage the whole pack to see off their once wise and wonderful leader, Nicolas. She could still remember him in her youth, a brave, fierce dog. One who had let her mother in when she most needed a home, the dog who had given her everything she had now.
"... And, though his final days were hard on all of us, I believe we can rebuild what he once believed in."
Yulianna finished her brief speech, bowing her head to let the Shaman of Winterwood take care of the burial. She shook out her fur and backed away, letting anyone else who wished to speak have a chance. Despite herself, she felt the urge to return to Borislav's side, or even her sister's, but for now she remained only a pace away from the rest of her pack, watching the Shaman place the herbs and say the rites. It was difficult, still, comprehending all that happened. No one had challenged her position, in fact, even those who had seemed loyal to Nicolas only the day before seemed relieved he was dead.
The belgian shepherd supposed it was only difficult because she had so much to take care of now. The pack, unfortunately, was in shambles still, and she had no idea how to go about changing that. They needed new ranks, and Yulie was reluctant to show bias. Her position was new-- and any misjudgment would reflect poorly on her. It didn't change the fact that their Beta had disappeared, and a new dog was needed in their place. Worse, the current Shaman was growing old, and she had no idea who would replace her when she finally succumbed to her age.
Things were changing rapidly, and she was the dog in charge of overseeing it all.

Aoife - Livid - Borislav
((woo first pack meeting thread! :D This mostly is just so everyone can get together and chatter, so feel free to talk about Nicolas or any current pack stuff going on. Feel free to interact with each other or Yulie, and also no one is required to post in this thread. Just post if you want to, or simply read if you'd rather not.
If you want to say your dog is here, you can simply post once and leave it at that, that's fine. In general, don't sweat this thread too much. It's mostly for fun, and, err, well... Grieving. I'd like to see how Nicolas has effected other characters, so if your character has been impacted by the old leader or his death, I heavily encourage your pup to come up and talk about it :D
also this is a good time to talk to yulie about positions in stuff, if anyone wants to be a lead hunter/warrior/shaman/beta etc. just lemme know))
