[attr="class","ARPtitle"]The Ash River Project Laws
[attr="class","ARPpara"]This is a pack in which the pursuit of knowledge is first and foremost. Dogs are sent on missions to test the limits of their bodies, understand their abilities, and to gather resources for the pack's quest for knowledge. Because ethics and morals do not constrain their experiments and research in anatomy and genetics, the Ash River dogs often have the most advanced healers and understanding of the world they live in. They are not above cheating and killing to get their knowledge either.
[break][break]
Other dogs, both loners or in packs, often request the services of an Ash River dog simply because these dogs get things done. Services include interrogation, kidnapping, healing, etc.

[attr="class","ARPsubtitle"]The Rules of the Pack
[attr="class","ARPpara"]Below are the pack's laws. The Ash River Project has a minimal number of laws. The only laws in place are so that dogs do not waste or sabotage each other's pursuit of knowledge. Kidnapping, murder, and other sins are typically acceptable as long as they are a means to an end and the dog in question doesn't get caught.
[break][break]
[break][break]
Do not make visitors feel unwelcome, unless they trespass into off-limit areas.
[break]
Protect the lives of our experimental subjects; they are a precious commodity.
[break]
Clean up after yourself; don't leave the mess for others to clean up.
[break]
Do as you please, just don't get caught.
[break]
Above all else, learn all you can.

[attr="class","ARPsubtitle"]Visitors to the Pack
[attr="class","ARPpara"]Despite the rather dark reputation that the Ash River Project has in Canaria, it is a rather easy site to visit. Visitors are welcome and rarely see evidence that something is awry, only gaining it from gossip and stories, for the most part. The Ash River dogs have no intention of angering other packs or dogs, and so typically try not to do anything which would incur the wrath of others.
[break][break]
However, visitors who trespass into forbidden areas will not be forgiven easily. Trespassers may find themselves interrogated for their intentions or else trapped in the pack as an experimental subject.
[break][break]
Finally, occasionally, a visitor may enter Ash River in order to ask a request of the pack. The pack never does anything for free, so dogs who ask are expected to pay the price.

[attr="class","ARPtitle"]Life in The Ash River Project
[attr="class","ARPpara"]Living in The Ash River Project is not too difficult. Dogs can enjoy their abilities and are encouraged to develop them. Ranking is flexible and designed to highlight the skills of the dogs in the pack while celebrating a dog's knowledge and level of expertise. Some dogs are accepted into the pack because they are interesting. Most of the dogs in Ash River tend to have a twisted sense of morality and ethics. Even the darkest and most insane dogs are given a duty and are mostly able to coexist with more sane members of the pack. Here, devils thrive.
[attr="class","ARPsubtitle"]Ash River is Equal Opportunity
[attr="class","ARPpara"]The dogs of Ash River earn their ranks and position in the pack. An Alpha's puppy has the same amount of opportunity to be the next Alpha as the puppy born from a Subject. There are no gender biases for any ranking. Respect is earned and a dog is more likely to be of a high ranking if they are not only skilled, but also charismatic and cunning. There are high ranks no matter what path the dogs choose in the pack. Experimental Subjects are even capable of moving into better positions if they prove themselves valuable.
[attr="class","ARPsubtitle"]Pack Missions
[attr="class","ARPpara"]Ash River dogs often gets requests from those of higher ranking than them. The missions either help the pack grow or function smoothly. Or they could have come from outsiders who visited the pack, looking for help and not having either the skills or the guts to complete their greatest wishes.
[break][break]Resource Gathering[break]
Pack members scope out places and journey throughout the land. They gather rare metals, information, medical supplies, and share their findings with those higher than them. Resources are stored in the warehouse buildings and doled out according to whatever is needed for the other dogs in their pursuit of knowledge.
[break][break]
Recruitment
[break]The pack also searches for like-minded individuals to join their ranks. Sometimes, they find someone to help gather resources or they discover a talented dog in the healing arts or they find a dog who lacks control of their powerful abilities. Other times, they "recruit" Subjects either by their charms or by force.
[break][break]
Healing
[break]
The Physicians of Ash River tend to be the best in the region, gaining a huge amount of knowledge from medical experiments and Visitors to the pack know this. A common request asked of the pack is to heal a dog that the other packs have failed.
[break][break]
Interrogation and Intelligence Gathering
[break]
The Ash River dogs are also skilled interrogators and spies. Some of the most cunning dogs are able to find answers from others and trade secrets for important resources, including Subjects. The requests for this skill can come from the pack or from outside of it.
[break][break]
Torture and Executions
[break]
How best to break a dog and kill him? Sometimes, the job that another dog wants done is to kill or torture a dog that has done wrong by them. Interestingly enough, most of Ash River will say they will do this, but then use the dog for something completely different. Unless, of course, the price is right.

[attr="class","ARPsubtitle"]Experiments
[attr="class","ARPpara"]Dogs are allowed to satiate their curiosity. Any odd little question they have, they are allowed to answer through experimentation. Rarely is the scientific method ever followed, though the dogs do believe themselves to be arriving to some conclusions. They also inform the interested members of their pack about their findings in different pack meetings.
[break][break]
Medical Experiments
[break]These seek to expand the knowledge of Ash River's Physicians or else give experience to those new to the healing arts. Each canine variant has different niches and abilities for healing, which the pack loves to explore. In addition, dissection is an important method of learning for Ash River's healers. They are not above breaking a Subject's bone to teach a new Medic how best to mend the bone.
[break][break]
Psychological Experiments
[break]
The reason why The Ash River Project is successful in Interrogations, Recruitment, and Intelligence Gathering is because the dogs have studied the intricacies of the mind. Brainwashing the Experimental Subject often happens in order to keep them subdued and easy to work with.
[break][break]
Ability Research
[break]
Sometimes, the dogs seek to understand the limits and possibilities of their own abilities. These dogs learn which metals are strongest and the best for an Augment to use as material. They learn how to best use the powers of an Esper. And they learn what exactly the Watchers can do. They learn about the mutagens and how to improve the odds of expressing a favorable one, for example.
